Best Overall Electric Griddle

Blackstone E-Series Electric Tabletop Griddle with Hood

Blackstone E-Series 17 inch Tabletop GriddleBlackstone is known for making excellent outdoor gas griddles, but they have recently released an electric model. The Blackstone E-Series is a Walmart exclusive, features a non-stick ceramic titanium-coated cooktop and 234 square inches of space.

This amount of space can accommodate approximately 9 pancakes, 9 burgers, 12 eggs, or 12 strips of bacon at a time. It comes with a rear grease trap for collecting any excess oil or food scraps.

A control dial regulates the griddle temperature, which is visible on an LCD controller display. The LCD screen shows the set temperature as well as the current temperature of the griddle. You can set the griddle temperature between 200 degrees Fahrenheit and 500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Each model also comes with a detachable hood used while cooking if desired and will protect the griddle’s cooktop when not in use. The griddle quickly reaches the desired temperature allowing you to start cooking fast.

The temperature across the cooktop isn’t completely uniform as the center of the griddle cooktop will be slightly hotter than the perimeter. The non-stick surface does an excellent job of preventing food from sticking, and the raised edges help keep things contained to the griddle and not on your counter.

The cooking performance is excellent. It does a great job on simple foods like pancakes and bacon to more complex dishes like hibachi stir fry. This is our favorite model electric griddle on the market, and if you’re willing to spend the money, you won’t be disappointed.

Pros:

  • Large ceramic-titanium non-stick cooktop
  • Heats up very quickly
  • Excellent cooking quality
  • It comes with a removable hood
  • LCD controller display

Cons:

  • Bulkier than other electric griddles
  • Higher price tag

Best Budget Electric Griddle

Presto 22-inch Electric Griddle

Presto 22-inch Electric GriddleThe saying goes, “you get what you pay for,” but the Presto 22-inch Electric Griddle is the exception to this rule. This griddle outperforms many of its more expensive competitors.

This griddle is great for a family on a budget. It costs under $50 at most stores and is large enough to cook up to six regular-size pancakes at a time or four pancakes and a side of bacon and eggs all at once.

The griddle heats up fast, but be careful because the skillet area directly above the heating ring tends to get hotter than the rest of the surface. If you can keep that in mind and either cook something that needs a higher temperature or watch whatever food you’re cooking in that area extra carefully, then this is griddle performs well.

It’s also super easy to clean. The griddle comes with a removable grease pan, and the heating element is also removable, so you can take it out and submerge the rest of the griddle in soapy water to wash it.

It also comes with removable handles for easy storage. The only thing to watch with this griddle is that the greased pan is fragile, so be careful not to drop it, or it could easily crack.

Pros:

  • The large surface area makes it easy to cook a lot at once
  • Grease pan collects cooking grease for healthier cooking.
  • Easy to clean and store
  • Handles are removable for easy storage.

Cons:

  • Grease Pan is fragile.
  • Has a hot spot directly over the heating ring

Best Compact Electric Griddle

Presto Liddle Griddle

Presto Liddle Griddle

If you are looking for a small griddle to use for a family of one or two, or if you don’t have a lot of room in your kitchen, the Presto Liddle Griddle may be the griddle for you.

The Presto Liddle Griddle can cook about three regular size pancakes at a time. The griddle also has a built-in grease catcher on one side for easy cleaning.

Despite its minimal size, it’s built well and won’t break easily. This griddle is dependable for regular use, and the performance is great. It heats up fast and evenly but be careful because it almost does too well a job heating up. If you don’t observe your food, it will burn.

The indicator light also turns off once it’s hot enough for use, and if you don’t have any food on it, someone might not realize it’s in use, and it’s hot, so be careful if you want to avoid nasty burns.

Pros:

  • Perfect size for small families or small spaces
  • Very durable holds up to frequent use.
  • Heats up very fast
  • Built-in grease catcher

Cons:

  • Runs hot
  • No indicator light to tell you its hot

Best Multi-Function Electric Griddle

Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

When it comes to a great multi-functional kitchen appliance, the Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler takes the honors. It works as an electric griddle, grill, panini press, and if you purchase the waffle plates, it can function as a waffle maker as well.

While other multi-function units can sometimes seem like a “jack-of-all-trades, master of none,” this Cuisinart gives a strong performance all-around. If you like the versatility of a griddle, you may want to see our top 11 best griddlers.

The griddler features two changeable plates, one side of the plate is a griddle, and if you flip it over to the other side, it’s a grill plate. You can even use it as a half griddle/ half grill at the same time. The griddler takes some time to heat up, but you can prepare a full meal on it in 15 minutes or less once it does.

This unit also features a greased plate to catch the grease for healthier cooking. However, the hole that the fat drains into is a little small, so keep an eye on it so it doesn’t clog and then overflow.

The griddle/grill plates and the greased pan are all easy to remove and are dishwasher safe. The top grill floats so that it will adjust to your food’s thickness for even more versatility.

It does feature a non-stick cooking surface; however, if you’re planning on cooking eggs, we recommend that you add a little extra cooking spray because eggs will still stick.

Also, it cools down quickly, so make sure to check the plate temperature between batches of food to make sure it hasn’t cooled down too much. The upside to this lack of heat retention is that it’s a little safer than other griddles and less likely to burn the user.

Pros:

  • Multiple functions mean you don’t have to buy and store numerous appliances.
  • Dishwasher safe
  • The top grill floats and can adjust to food thickness.
  • Cools down quickly

Cons:

  • Have to keep checking the temperature if you’re preparing multiple batches of food
  • Not suitable for cooking open-face sandwiches
  • The grease drain gets clogged.
  • Have to buy waffle maker plates separately

Best Ceramic Electric Griddle

Presto Cool-Touch Electric Ceramic Griddle

Presto Cool-Touch Electric Ceramic Griddler

The Presto Cool-Touch is a nice basic griddle for preparing a big breakfast for your family. This griddle is large, but it’s slim, so it isn’t hard to store when not used.

If you’re looking for something multi-functional, look elsewhere, but if you’re looking for a basic griddle that performs well, the Presto Cool-Touch is a good option.

The Ceramic Surface is healthier than traditional Teflon non-stick surfaces and will not flake. However, although it’s safer, it isn’t as non-stick as other surfaces when using for eggs or pancakes.

If you don’t mind adding a little oil or cooking spray, this won’t be a problem, but if you want a fully non-stick surface without adding anything, you should probably look at a different option.

The surface heats evenly, but you may have to prop it up slightly, so the grease drains properly into the grease tray. The unit retains heat well as long as it’s plugged in but will quickly cool off once you unplug it. The Presto Cool Touch is easy to clean. The griddle features a removable electric element so you can safely submerge it to clean it if it gets especially messy.

Pros:

  • The unit is slim for easy storage.
  • Non-flaking, reasonably non-stick, the healthy cooking surface
  • Heats up evenly
  • Good heat retention when in use but quickly cools once it’s unplugged

Cons:

  • Not fully non-stick
  • Have to prop up the back for grease to drain properly
  • Handles are fragile and will break if knocked against something too hard.

Best Copper Electric Griddle

BELLA Copper Titanium Coated Non-Stick Electric Griddle

Bella Copper GriddleThe BELLA Copper Titanium Coated Non-Stick Electric Griddle has a nice big cooking surface that can cook six or seven regular size pancakes at a time or up to ten pieces of French toast.

The non-stick coating works very well, so it cleans up fairly easily. However, we recommend that you sponge clean it only, or it could negatively impact the non-stick properties.

It gives a beautiful performance at an affordable price, but it does have a few quirks. It has to preheat for 10 to 15 minutes, or the griddle won’t distribute the heat evenly. Also, the temperature adjustment is very sensitive, and the griddle can get really hot with the slightest nudge! This griddle runs hotter than other griddles, so you’ll need to cook your food at a lower temperature than what you’re used to.

Another thing to be aware of is that the greased pan is a bit shallow. If you plan on cooking a large amount of greasy food like bacon, the pan can overflow and make a mess. However, if you’re not cooking food with many greases, this isn’t really an issue.

This skillet does pancakes and French toast beautifully. It also does an excellent job with sandwiches like grilled cheese. The cord is fully detachable for easy, damage-free storage. If used correctly, this griddle will also last you quite a while.

Pros:

  • Features a large, non-toxic cooking surface
  • Cooks pancakes and French toast perfectly.
  • Will outperform many other non-stick coatings if cared for properly.
  • The power cord is fully detachable for storage.

Cons:

  • It has to be preheated for 10 to 15 minutes to heat evenly
  • Sponge clean only
  • Shallow grease pan
